Abstract:
One of the major considerations in the design, construction, and rehabilitation of the highway system is the installation of a properly designed culvert to convey tributary runoff. In this study the box and circular culvert used with a different blockage rate (0%,15%, and 30%) at the inlet of the culvert under steady and unsteady flow conditions. The findings show that the scouring depth increased with a rise in hydrograph stepwise and blockage rate. When comparing the same rate of blockage and non-blockage, it was found that the circular culvert indicated for more scouring than the box culvert overall.
